Adaptive Gardens of the Lowcountry has reached a major milestone in it’s young history. On Wednesday of this week, April 20, 2011, AGL received it’s 501c3 designation as a recognized non-profit. As our partner sharing Thornhill Farm, we are always encouraged by the activities we see at AGL, and how their motivated team helps with the continued development of these kids and young adults. We appreciate all of the efforts that others have given on behalf of AGL, particularly the Coastal Community Foundation, who helped incubate the entire project!
For any questions about AGL, please contact Leslie Wade .

The 2011 Wine + Food festival was great fun for all of us at Our Local Foods. We were fortunate enough to be able to exhibit in the main tent this year, and were also represented in the Lowcountry Local First Booth. We had a lot of people come by the booth to learn about our organic farming and Kitchen Table Cuisine, our local food delivery service. Pretty much everybody tried the soup (and the water). There is a mind boggling amount going on at the show: an array of the most wonderful foods, beverages of all types, shows and booths in the exhibition areas and at the special event. And of course, there are a lot of people just out having fun!

It’s hard to pick a favorite event that occurred during the show, but one of our favorite events was the closing BBQ Bash- This event is on closing night (Sunday) and features live music, more than 12 different recipes for BBQ (including grilled fish), beverages, and friendly people! If you’re planning to go to the Wine+Food Festival next year, mark your calendar for the beginning of March… The images of our booth are courtesy of Jason Kaumeyer (Thanks Jason!). The images in the booth are courtesy of Phil Dillon (Thanks Phil)!
Thanks to all of you that visited our booth! We look forward to providing you the best in Local Food via Kitchen Table Cuisine! Please call or email with any questions!

Vegetable Bag Suggestions
We’ve all been enjoying the pea tendrils as the perfect spring salad, but there are other ways to enjoy pea tendrils as well. Use it with our farm fresh eggs in omelets and frittas for a heavenly Sunday brunch. Food process it into pesto sauce instead of basil and toss with al dente pasta. Or wilt the pea tendrils and toss into a light pasta salad. Enjoy!

From all of us at Our Local Foods- we wish you the best of luck and a Happy St. Patty’s Day. Here’s hoping the springtime weather continues to stay beautiful. It’s helping our farming efforts in a huge way; everything here on Thornhill Farm is greening up, and growing like crazy (that’s horticulture-speak) in this weather. BTW, we like clover, as the clover’s good for the organic farming we do here (and it can’t hurt to have some four leaf clovers mixed in there)!!
Cheers!

Thanks to all of you who came by the Our Local Foods booth at the BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival 2011. This year we introduced Kitchen Table Cuisine, our home/office local, fresh food delivery option. We thought it was a great show this year, as the BB&T Charleston W+F team really did a great job with all of the details. And of course… the food and wine was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing our friends and meeting lots of new ones, and hope that you’ll pass along our name to your friends. Be sure to use your coupon on KTC.
We also hope you liked the soup at the show. Be sure to try that recipe, and other recipes from Jacqueline Gowe! Jacqueline is also preparing a shopping list each week to help you figure out what to purchase from the KTC store.
Here’s Katie & Maria having some fun in the booth! |

The team at Our Local Foods have been fortunate to work as an organic food supplier to Sean Brock and the entire Husk team as they’ve made their mark on the culinary world. If you haven’t eaten at Husk, it’s a must on the Charleston restaurant scene. And, be sure to make a stop at the Husk bar, which is just across the driveway from the main restaurant; it’s a great place to relax and meet friends.
