Adaptive Gardens achieves 501c3 designation

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011 | No Comments »

Adaptive Gardens of the Lowcountry has reached a major milestone in it’s young history. On Wednesday of this week, April 20, 2011, AGL received it’s 501c3 designation as a recognized non-profit. As our partner sharing Thornhill Farm, we are always encouraged by the activities we see at AGL, and how their motivated team helps with the continued development of these kids and young adults. We appreciate all of the efforts that others have given on behalf of AGL, particularly the Coastal Community Foundation, who helped incubate the entire project!
For any questions about AGL, please contact Leslie Wade .

Vegetable Bag Suggestions
We’ve all been enjoying the pea tendrils as the perfect spring salad, but there are other ways to enjoy pea tendrils as well. Use it with our farm fresh eggs in omelets and frittas for a heavenly Sunday brunch. Food process it into pesto sauce instead of basil and toss with al dente pasta. Or wilt the pea tendrils and toss into a light pasta salad. Enjoy!

Adaptive Gardens Gearing Up for Spring

Leslie Wade, program director for Adaptive Gardens of the Lowcountry, is back from maternity leave. Little Lyla Davidson is an absolutely adorable addition to the farm family.

Anonymous donors have provided a movable chicken coop for Adaptive Gardens to have their own chickens. Students will be able to feed chickens, gather eggs and move the coop to fresh grass every day.

Georgetown Middle School will be joining the ranks of students enjoying therapeutic time on the farm. With the greenhouse filling with trays of seedlings and the fields ready to go, this is a great time for new faces at Adaptive Gardens of the Lowcountry.

Stay tuned for details about the best plant sale in Charleston coming in early April with seedlings from the greenhouse.

As we begin a new year and welcome both new students and returning students, we think on how welcome all kinds of support from the community are to us.
